Discovery Costa Rica was founded in 1997. A small family business, selling just ‘open voucher’ packages, providing hotels and car rentals to adventure travelers.
In1999, due to request, the tour and travel department was included and the company started to expand with repeat clients as well as many new faces…
2005-Now well established in the industry, the need to add a niche became necessary as many new travel agencies were being created. Weddings became the new theme and Costa Rica Paradise Wedding (CRPW) was born.
Now celebrating 6 years in the wedding business, what was once a travel agency that supplied wedding services became a Wedding agency that supplied travel services.
Today, the companies are operated independently with 3 permanent Wedding Planners at Paradise wedding and Discovery Costa Rica now boasting 3 departments, Tour and Travel, Transport Division and Wedding guest.

Name: Gary Sherriff
Nationality: I am English, born and bred. I have been a resident in Costa Rica for 16 years.
Position at the company:  Owner Manager
Favorite thing about working here: In Costa Rica? Well, this place is just Paradise I love the people, I love the weather …. It’s a dream come true! And the travel agency? I am a people’s person, I enjoy crowds and I like meeting new people. I am in my element working in the customer service industry. There’s nothing more satisfying than making someone’s day
Personal Goals and Achievements: As a lad, I always wanted to be a “Marinero” just like all of the men in my family so when I left School, I jumped on the Merchant Ships and spent the next 12 years travelling and living around the globe. In 1995, I met a beautiful Costa Rican girl whilst I was living in Spain. After spending some time together she invited me home to meet her parents; I followed (of course) and a few years later, baby Sofia came along.
Greatestmoments? I travelled around the world, met my dream girl, moved to Paradise and was gifted by the birth of my little princess. What more can a man ask for?
Profile: Family 1st, Work 2nd and doing Sports is both my trial & passion (triathlons being the latest venture). I love to travel to other countries especially cities that have a lot of history or distinct cultures. Other than that, I don’t really want for much, for me the future is now. I’m living my dream every day.

Name: Marcela Mejía Mejía
Nationality: Costa Rican
Position at the company: Wedding Guest Specialist
Favorite thing about working here: I love my country and the favorite thing about working at Discovery Costa Rica is having the opportunity to offer to other people the marvelous attractions and places that Costa Rica has for travelers. My main commitment is to provide unforgettable travel experiences and good memories because nobody can take them away.
Personal Goals and Achievements: Continue working in tourism industry, study graphic designer and see my son growing up.
Profile: I have a degree in Tourism management and since 1998 I have been working in the tourism business working at tour operators in the Travel Planning, Sales & Marketing departments. All these years of experience have given me the opportunity to have a great knowledge of the tourist offer around the country. I enjoy spending most of my leisure time with my son Jose Ignacio; playing and assisting him with the school’s tasks. I really like to travel and when I have the chance I go out with my son and my parents to different places within Costa Rica. Doing zip-line is my favorite activity!

Name: Helen Mixter 
Nationality: Costa Rican
Position at the company: Travel Advisor 
Favorite thing about working here: “I have 18 years working in tourism; I love extreme and adventure tours, such as rappel, rafting, canopy, ATV, horseback riding and walking tours which I enjoy the most. I like to know every beautiful corner of my country. Also, I love animals, especially dogs. Some of my hobbies are to read, watch TV, listen to music and most importantly enjoy life. 
One favorite thing about working at Discovery Costa Rica is make your dream come true.  
Personal Goals and Achievements: Continue working in tourism industry and I wish to study psychology. 
Profile: I have studies in Tourism since 1993. I’ve done several different activities, all related to Tourism, Marketing, Customer Service and Finance-Administration. I base all my daily activities and responsibilities in quality, analysis and good service, these are kind of the key words I use during my day to day work.

Name: Jorge Chaves
Nationality:  Born and raised in Costa Rica, my parents from Costa Rica, born and raised as well.
Position at the company: Transport Division - Coordinator, tour guide and tour driver.
Favorite thing about working here: When I work as a tourist guide, I love to be out driving or guiding people, my favorite thing is to interact with other people, and show them how beautiful my country is.
Personal Goals and Achievements:  Keep helping people and traveling around this beautiful country as much I can, also finish my goals, have a house or business (small hotel, Restaurant, tour desk, anything) at the beach and retire there. And well, I want to hike along the Chirripo Hill someday. 
Profile: I’m super funny person, I like to make people happy too, I considered myself a good friend and trustily person.

Name: Gabriel Cambronero Espinoza
Nationality: Costa Rican
Position at the company:  Accounting & Finances
Favorite thing about working here: The work environment of this company is very positive;working here is like sharing with my own family.The tourism industry is very broad; I like the idea of ​​promoting the beauty of my country.
Personal Goals and Achievements: As a short-term goal I would like to get married in about 2 o 3 years from now, and as a long-term goal I would like to have my own business in exports.
Profile: I have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Marketing and Finances. I've always liked the areas of management and the formulation of projects.
